Mountain Spirit is strategically linked to brandy production facilities in South Africa, such as Ladismith and Barrydale, as well as the Oude Molen Distillery in Grabouw. They are able to blend pot and column distilled products to ensure uniqueness to each blend. Mountain Spirit is also able to contract, distill and blend grape and grain spirits, whisky, gin and vodka and supply locally or internationally in bulk. Wines for distillation (mainly Chenin Blanc and Colombar) are selected during the harvest for distillation, maturation and blending. Tenacious analytical requirements result in a high consistency of both pot and column distilled products. In South Africa, grapes are specifically grown for brandy making as opposed to some other countries where brandy production becomes a means of removing surplus alcohol.
